Are Ampure chargers UL certified?

Yes. Both the Ampure Go and Ampure Go Gen 2 chargers are UL and cUL certified. This guarantees they comply with the strict safety and quality standards required in both the United States and Canada.

Are Ampure chargers universal to all BEV and PHEV vehicles?

Yes, Ampure chargers are compatible with all Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs) currently on the road. Our chargers support the two main types of connectors:

  • NACS: Used by many American-made vehicles (like Tesla).
  • SAE J1772: Used by most other global electric vehicles (e.g., GM, Ford, Nissan).

With over 500,000 units in use, Ampure ensures compatibility with virtually any EV.

Will Ampure chargers work with adapters?

Yes. Our chargers are available in both NACS and SAE standards and can be used safely with certified charging adapters.

Is the Ampure portable charger for indoor and outdoor use?

Yes, the Ampure Go is designed for both indoor and outdoor use. It operates in extreme temperatures from −22∘F to 122∘F. With its IP67 rating, it is fully dustproof and can withstand temporary submersion in up to 3 feet of water without damage, ensuring durability in any condition.

Is it possible to mount Ampure’s portable EV Chargers?

Yes, both the Ampure Go Gen 1 and Gen 2 chargers are designed to be wall-mounted:

  • Gen 1: Includes a dedicated mounting bracket in the box.
  • Gen 2: Is mount-ready for easy installation.

Installation & Setup

Do Ampure’s portable chargers require an electrician for installation or setup?

For Level 1 Charging: No electrician is needed. The Ampure Go is ready to plug into any standard 120-volt household outlet.

For Level 2 Charging: The Ampure Go can also plug into a 240-volt outlet (like those used for appliances). If your home does not already have a 240-volt outlet, a licensed electrician will be required to install one for you to ensure safety and compliance

What size breaker does a level 1 and/or level 2 charger require?

The required circuit breaker size is determined by the charger's maximum current draw:

  • 16Amp EV Charger: Requires a 20-amp breaker.
  • 32Amp EV Charger: Requires a 40-amp breaker.
  • 40Amp EV Charger: Requires a 50-amp breaker.

What do the different light indicators mean on the Ampure Go?

  • Normal Operation – Blue Light: The charger is ready, or if the light is pulsing, it is actively charging.
  • Warning – Amber Light: Charging speed is reduced due to high temperature or a recoverable issue.
  • Error – Red Light: A fault has been detected. Charging will not proceed until the issue is resolved.
